Cat Houses Project
"Cat house? Are you nuts!?"--Yup... My sister has two cats - Pookha and Little One. They are now outdoor cats. Georgia had an unseasonably cold winter 2002-2003. I was starting to worry about the poor things. My sister Heidi had been looking at some of the cat houses that you can buy - they are not cheap. So.. Project time.
The requirements:
- Must be big enough for Heidi's big ol' cats.
- Must have little flappy door
- Must survive the weather of GA
- Must provide basic insulation
So.. I settled in on R2 insulation (about 1/2" of foam between the layers of wood) on all surfaces and a cedar shingle exterior, with galvanized deck screws and nails. :) The cats didn't like the flaps, so those were removed, and there was a bit of leaking on the backside, but some caulking fixed that. So far they're holding up pretty well. :)
The bottle of Hornsbury's is there for perspective. Didn't have the usual can of Coca-Cola.
