STAYONLINE, Inc.,
Atlanta, Georgia, 05/2006 - 08/2007 (full-time & contractor)
|
|
Manager of Production Support
Senior Developer
Managed a team of five to seven full-time, part-time and contract employees performing the duties of Systems Administration, Database Administration, Network Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Release Management to approximately 700 lights-out, remote servers providing free and paid high speed Internet access for hotels, airports and military installations. Daylight and on-call administration of mission critical, co-location servers was provided, as well as final tier support to Call Center staff and management. Accomplishments include substantially reducing load on remote servers through capacity metrics analysis and tuning of services. Customer affecting, weekly outages were resolved through partial redesign of centralized web servers, databases and logic on the remote servers. A radical means to remotely upgrade servers and services from OpenBSD 3.2 to FreeBSD 6.2 with minimal service interruption was developed, requiring no on-site, kvm/console, or human assistance. Presently working as contractor to re-factor service code to provide stand-alone functionality, in order to remove fail-point dependencies on centralized services. Technologies include OpenBSD, FreeBSD, Debian, Apache, MySQL, Postgresql, Apache, Perl, persistent Perl (mod_perl), Mason (mod_mason), Nagios, DNS/BIND, LDAP, and other common services.
