Dotty was actually trying to snag a picture of the Route 66 sign, but fate
had other plans.
As you start to gain elevation (the rim of the Grand Canyon is about 7,400ft
above sea level), you leave behind the weeds and start seeing evergreens.
It's an odd transition for an East coaster.
