Alrighty - we can give the loud Vegas background a rest. *phew*
So - Funny story time. We had signed up to take a bus tour of the
Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon, which involved getting on a bus
at 6:50AM. Yeah... a little rough, but we were out there at 6:45.
The bus came very late, which is pretty annoying, when it's that early.
"Hi - We're the Nordbergs. Running a little late today?"
The driver flips through some paper on his clipboard,
and declares, "I already picked you up at 6:40AM."
"Uhmm... I'm pretty sure you didn't..."
The driver had arrived early, asked two random people, "Hey - Are you
the Nordbergs?", and the rotten, evil snits said yes... That kinda'
thing takes a few hours to flush out of the section of the brain
dedicated to outrage.
So - we rented a car and set out to do it on our own, with
the end result being that we paid less, got a fun convertible, set our
own pace, and otherwise made rude gestured at tour buses for the rest
of the day. (OK - Sometimes it takes more than a few hours.) We
also got free pick-up and drop-off to the airport, as part of the
tour we didn't pay for, so.. hoorah.
Here are some pics!

Speed limits? Speed limits? We don't need no stinking speed limits!

Lake Mead (the lake that was created/enlarged by the Hoover Dam)

How's that for a backyard?

Hey.. it was that or a minivan - you do the math.

Lake Mead creeping up toward the Hoover Dam.

We're pretty much on the wrong side of the dam for taking cool pics, but it was really
just a nice stop on the way to the Grand Canyon. The odd thing is, that you _know_ that
it's a huge construction, and you see the little ant sized people walking about on its
top, but.. it just looks a lot bigger on the Discovery Channel.

Aren't we just too cute?
Alrighty - back on the road - next stop, the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
