![]() To really clean the baseboard, I disassembled and cleaned the pieces. |

![]() The base board is reassembled. |
![]() I had hoped to replace the installed metal coaster wheels with something that would be a little kinder on the floor, but neither Home Depot, Lowe's or Ace Hardware had anything that could handle the weight. So - Underneath each side I placed a 6"x6"x3/4" piece of wood with one of the slide pads glued to it. The piece of wood isn't actually attached to the piano. It worked just right! The wheels are ~1/16" off the floor, and the piano can (carefully) be moved without damage to the floor. |
![]() I forgot to take a "before" picture, but trust me - it was NASTY. Imagine a piece of furniture that hasn't been dusted in 35 years, and you're probably right on target. I went with a full size image to show just how damn beautiful the grain on the soundboard is. Even the ribs are incredibly well selected cuts of wood. Cleaning the ribs behind the case supports, on the other hand, was a major pain. This was complicated by the fact, that you really don't want any water staying behind, so, only a barely damp cloth could be used. |
![]() This is a horrible picture. Sorry. The upper fret board has these chromed pieces across the upper octaves. It took quite a bit of careful work to them cleaned up, without affecting anything surrounding them. This picture doesn't show it very well, but the left if "before" and the right is after the first pass. I ended up breaking out the Dremel on this one. |
![]() Time to clean the peg board. *groan* |
![]() Keep in mind - the pads aren't all at the same height, so keeping them in order is important. Underneath the table, are the legs to the bench, waiting for their cleaning. |
![]() The unsung hero of the day. Murphy Oil Soap, and a ten pack of white hand towels. |
![]() Yes.. All that came off the piano... Day one was a lot worse... |
