The House - The Piano!

Reconditioning the Piano! - Day Four

OK - Not a lot of pictures for today. Sorry. Here's what not pictured, and you'll see why...

The rest of the day was spent working on the action assembly.

The action assembly is _very_ detailed, and delicate. You don't want to disassemble it, because every piece is positioned just so. To give you some idea of how intricate it is, look at diagram of one action. While you're at it - look at all of The Knabe Project. This guy is going all out on the restoration of a much older, and much nicer Knabe full upright.

Back to my piano for a moment, I figured the best way to get most of the dust off, would be to blast it off with air. So - I brought out my handy-dandy pancake air compressor.

Right hand side is "before" and left hand side if "after". By taking off the majority of the dust/grime with the air compressor, I'll be able to lift the remaining grime off with a dampened cloth. If there's too much dust, then you end up just smearing dirty water back into the unfinished wood. As always, a solution of Murphy's Oil Soap will be used.

Still plenty to do in the coming days, and if Dotty delivered soon, er.. the next few months. ;)
