The House - The Office

The Office was the first project. Mostly because the previous owners seem to have kept their dogs in it, such that they had lined the floor with this truly heinous, milky, blue peel-n-stick vinyl tiling. It was truly hideous.

No problem - take up the tiles, tap down any stray nails, put down a coat of BINS primer to seal in any dog nastiness, and install a carpet - no problem!

I'll come to learn that simple plans backfire when a house in involved.

Half of the tile came up easily - the other half, the adhesive was still "gooey", and had a rather unpleasant smell. No prob - give it a few days to dry out. A few days later it was no less slimey. So - Many belt sander belts later, that problem was fixed. The bare wood drank the primer like whiskey before an aging drunk.

So - paint the walls - easy enough! (Still on the learning curve about "simple plans" at this point...) Painting the walls was easy - however, the paint they had used on the ceiling was very low quality, and parts of it came off with the masking tape. No problem - had already planned to install crown molding once all the painting was done, anyway.

Here's a word of advice about install a carpet. Don't. Ever. Pay professionals any amount of money they want. No.. Pay large, bulky, barrel chested, ex-semipro football players to do it, because using a knee-kicker is not for the skinny, computer science likes of people like me. I did a fine job, but my hands were raw flesh, my knees bruised, and muscles warm with pain.

It does look nice, though. :) Sorry - no pics - I'll take some after I build some book cases and an extra desk.
